A social cause, a novel approach, this can be the best way to describe the working of the Students Initiative Group for Managerial Assistance, popularly known as SIGMA on the XLRI campus.

SIGMA, which came into existence in 2002, is a society of a group of budding future corporate managers, who consider it their duty to work for the community. They provide solutions to certain problems or suggest appropriate ideas in the issues concerning the community development. The main aim of the group is to help social institutions like NGOs formulate effective fund-raising strategies, develop new programmes, curtail expenses and perform better. In essence, it works on projects for building sustainable business models for NGOs and Small-Medium scale enterprises (SMEs).

An organized research, a strategic approach and a comprehensive analysis- these are the only tools used by the students. The young minds apply all their B-school learning and prior experience while working on projects.
The work of the SIGMA team was documented in the yearly report of the Centre for Small Enterprises (CSE) and was presented in XLRI’s forty-seventh annual convocation.
