XLRI Conducts Kshitij 2017: The Flagship Event of Confederation of Indian Industries – Young Indians

Kshitij, the flagship event of CII Yi committee at XLRI, has now evolved into a platform that provides a unique opportunity to school children of Jamshedpur coming from all strata of the society to showcase their talent and be recognized for that. The event is in its tenth year and has witnessed wonderful display of talent, skills and abilities by the school children. Every year we include more schools into our Kshitij family and this year too we invited many new schools to participate. We successfully hosted 450 talented students this year.

‘Kshitij 2017’, the 10th edition, was held on 26th November 2017 in the XLRI campus. It was a daylong inter-school cultural competition comprising of six events, namely quiz, painting, play, picture story, talent show and group dance. Initiatives like this motivate the young participants and instill a sense of accomplishment in their hearts. The judges and audience were left amazed seeing the creative ability on display. The play showcased excellent performances on serious issues such as ‘Terrorism’ and ‘Old Age Homes’ besides lighter topics like ‘Snow White’. The quizzers were extremely well-versed with current topics and made the event extremely competitive. Every single participant’s weeks of practice was clearly showing.

The Tinplate Company of India Ltd. (TCIL), a TATA enterprise, was the Title Sponsor of Kshitij 2017. They have been supporting the event since its inception. The event started with an opening ceremony at 09:00 AM and concluded with the prize distribution at 05:00 PM. The event was graced by several dignitaries including the Guest of Honor for Inauguration – Mr. Tapas K. The “Young Achiever Scholarship” that was conceptualized in 2014, was awarded to deserving candidates this year as well. The scholarship was co-sponsored by Tata Tinplate and Young Indians (Yi) Jharkhand chapter. It was awarded to 14 bright students this year, an increase from a count of 10 in the previous year. The scholarship covers the annual tuition fees of the awardee for an entire year. Through this, CII Yi – XLRI aims to support the lesser privileged students to fulfill their dreams and scale greater heights.

Initiatives like this and their enterprising and pioneering spirit set XLRI apart from the other management schools.
