CiiYi XLRI conducts Kshitij 2016

Confederation of Indian Industries Young Indians (CII Yi) Net in XLRI is an initiative to empower young students to work towards the development of education, employability, environment, youth affairs and health sector. Kshitij, a flagship event of CII Yi team of XLRI, has now evolved into a platform that provides a unique opportunity to school children of Jamshedpur coming from all stratas of the society to showcase their talent and getting recognized. The initiative is in its ninth year and has been marked a huge success. This year several new schools participated in the event and XLRI successfully hosted over 500 talented students.

Kshitij 2016 was held on 23rd October at XLRI premises. It was a daylong inter-school cultural competition comprising of six events, namely quiz, painting, street play, picture story, talent show and group dance. The Tinplate Company of India Ltd. (TCIL), A TATA Enterprise, was the title sponsor of Kshitij 2016. The event started with opening ceremony at 8:30 am and concluded with the award distribution and closing ceremony at 4:30 pm.

Initiatives like these motivate young participants and instill a sense of accomplishment in their hearts. The children were very enthusiastic to showcase their talent and judges and audience were left amazed seeing the creative abilities on display. A special mention should be made for the “Gymnastic Performance” and the “Rubik Cube” acts by school students. The dance and play performances left the audiences spellbound, with critical issues like women empowerment & deforestation being beautifully highlighted by the performances. The event was graced by Mr. Harjeet singh and Mr. Prabhat Das from Tinplate, Mr. Tapas Sahu from CII-Yi, Jharkhand Chapter, Prof. Ashis Pani, Dean Academics, XLRI and Prof. Sunil Sarangi, Faculty Coordinator for CII-Yi, XLRI.

The “Young Achiever Scholarship” that was conceptualized in 2014, was awarded to deserving candidates this year as well. The scholarship covers the annual tuition fees of the awardee for an entire year. Through this, CII Yi XLRI aims to support less privileged students to fulfill their dreams and scale greater heights.

Initiatives like Kshitij and the enterprising and pioneering spirit sets XLRI apart from the other management schools.
